Working Leading Hand Electrician (Commercial)

The Role

Our client is hiring a Working Leading Hand. You’ll run the site day-to-day, lead a small crew, keep standards high, and still get on the tools when it makes sense.

This is for a calm, capable operator who can take a brief, plan the work, coordinate people, and deliver clean outcomes. No cowboys. No ego. No drama.

$55–$60/hr + Super (negotiable for the right candidate) | Vehicle Provided | 7:00am–3:00pm / 3:30pm (30 min break) | OT when required | Immediate Start

Key Responsibilities

Delivery and site control

  • Run day-to-day site delivery: plan the work, sequence tasks, keep momentum
  • Lead and coordinate the crew on-site and maintain productivity and standards
  • Liaise with builders/site managers and manage day-to-day communication
  • Keep site presentation sharp: clean, safe, organised
  • Flag issues early: clashes, missing materials, scope gaps, program risks

Technical execution (hands-on when required)

  • Commercial installs, upgrades, and maintenance
  • Cable containment and runs (tray, basket, conduit)
  • Fit-off: lighting, power, switchgear, equipment connections
  • Switchboard/sub-board work (installations, terminations, upgrades as required)
  • Fault finding and repairs
  • Testing and basic job documentation (as required)

Quality and safety

  • Ensure work meets AS/NZS standards and company quality expectations
  • Drive safe practices: SWMS/JSA, toolbox talks, housekeeping
  • Maintain a high bar on workmanship: neat, compliant, minimal rework

Crew, Hours & Setup

  • Roster: 7:00am–3:00pm / 3:30pm finish (30 min break)
  • Team: typically 4 trades + 4 apprentices
  • Overtime: when required (program pushes, shutdowns, deadlines)
  • Vehicle: provided

Requirements

Essential

  • Current SA A-Grade Electrical Licence
  • Solid commercial experience (mid to senior)
  • Comfortable running a job day-to-day with minimal supervision
  • Strong workmanship standards (neat, compliant, minimal rework)
  • Reliable, professional, and good with builders/customers/site teams
  • White Card + Driver’s Licence
  • CPR/LVR (or willingness to obtain immediately)

Desirable

  • EWP, Working at Heights
  • Experience on warehouses/light industrial and multi-trade fit-outs
  • Proven capability leading apprentices/trades and keeping jobs on track
